The Distribution Center, located in the Trident
United Way building at 117 South Main Street,
provides food and clothing to families experiencing
crisis such as sudden unemployment, death/illness
of a provider, and destruction of a home due to fire
or acts of nature and other hardship situations. Both
food and clothing are provided free. New applicants
should have 2 forms of identification – one, a picture
I.D. if possible.
Food: Food distribution consists of dry or canned
goods. New applicants are also referred to DSS so
they can apply for food stamps. In the event the
client does not have an income, referral is made to
DSS for financial help and food stamps and the
client is provided food to sustain the entire family
for approximately 14 days or more.
Clothing: Clients are allowed 7 complete outfits
Per family member, except in situations where need
is evident, as in a “burn out” case. In cases where
need is critical there are no limitations to the quantity
of clothing distributed. When there is ample clothing
in stock, the “7 rule” is waived.
